Director - Multicultural Marketing

Patricia Romero, a native Southern Californian of Argentinean descent, joined jcpenney in November 2009
to head up the company’s Multicultural Marketing efforts.
Prior to her move to Dallas, she was in the role of National Advertising Manager with Hyundai Motor Co.
Her marketing team was responsible for reinvigorating the company’s brand image and creating award
winning campaigns. The team was named Advertising Age’s Marketer of the year in 2009 for their
tremendous efforts in brand marketing.
Her career started in the automotive industry where she was responsible for Latin American Marketing for
Honda. She then moved into the technology sector, joining Toshiba, handling general market, U.S. Hispanic
and international marketing before jumping back into the automotive space at Chrysler, where, she
restructured and rebranded the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands in the highly competitive California
Patricia graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and
Spanish. Entrenched in the business and academic community in San Diego, she continued on at the same
institution to earn her M.B.A.

The main take away for me was this whole concept of “what type of image am I portraying vs. what type of image

The combination of the various topics discussed during the program culminated in tremendous personal
growth and self awareness of the qualities that an executive needs to have beyond the skill sets

The group project grew from a simple social entrepreneurship exercise to a fully executable non profit
business model. This has been a highlight of my professional trajectory as well as a deeply gratifying

Overall viewpoint on the educational experience as well as how the knowledge and applied skills gained will equip

I really enjoyed the interaction between the class participants and the instructors, I though we were able to turn
real life examples into broader topics that related to the message being delivered by each professor. I also
enjoyed the guess speakers, specially the ones that talked about the their struggles in getting to the top jobs and
how they balanced personal life and business.
