I have two key takeaways from the first session on “Leading with Authenticity”.
1. The importance of being self‐aware. I realize that in order to succeed I must understand who I am, what I
stand for and what I strive to be.
2. An executive position is not out of reach. It is very clear that becoming an executive is very attainable
with the proper positioning and brand image. I bring, within myself, the experience, skills and insights
needed for success. Session 3
Phase 3 was a critical part of the program and pulled together the learnings from Phase 1 & 2. I have always
struggled with how to become a corporate leader in such a big corporation. I learned and realize that becoming a
corporate leader goes beyond your title. The idea of understanding your corporate culture so that you may best
navigate through it successfully was helpful, especially knowing how to leverage our ethnic culture as a needed
quality and not just an identification method.
Understanding and learning about executive presence is going to be a key skill that I develop moving forward, as I
feel that can be the most important piece and skill to learn in order to move ahead and to make change within an
organization. I realize through this process that an organization and their culture is built on the executive
presence of its executive leaders. Knowing this, it is important for me to develop and build an executive presence
that is solid and based not only on my business skills and knowledge, but also on my Hispanic culture and identity.
Overall, a great Phase, as with the rest. I enjoyed it and look forward to the places it will take me.
Overall viewpoint on the educational experience as well as how the knowledge and applied skills gained will equip
you for career success:
It’s hard to put into words what this program has done for me and my professional career. I can only hope that
everything I’ve learned and the experiences I have had will launch me to unknown opportunities and great
success. Only time can tell…and will tell. I do feel that this program was an excellent educational opportunity
and unique to any other educational programs that I’ve experienced within my organization. Many times,
educational programs revolve around a specific corporate culture and the network is internal. The NHCC-CEDP
allowed me to venture outside of my corporate to realize a whole word of networks, people and experiences that
have shaped me into a better professional.
